The Art of Storytelling, The Boys & The Game They Love
Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing the Next Level 10AA team as they faced off against the BBA Titans in the LAST CHANCE NIT – 4GG, hosted by USSSA in Jenks, OK. This high-stakes tournament was more than just a shot at a World Series berth—it was a chance to witness resilience, connection, and raw emotion in action.
As someone who’s spent years behind the lens as an artistic photojournalist, I’ve always been drawn to the stories that unfold between the obvious moments. Yes, I capture the game—the plays, the hits, the slides—but what I’m really after is the story behind the scoreboard: the dugout rituals, the tension in a stance, the burst of joy after a close call at home.

In a game as fast-paced and nuanced as baseball, emotion moves quickly—but if you’re looking, it’s everywhere. And that’s where the magic happens. Merging the soul of storytelling with the rhythm of the game—that’s what makes this more than just sports photography. It becomes a visual legacy.
One of my favorite moments from the game? The team’s pre-game hype circle. It wasn’t just tradition—it was brotherhood. You could feel the energy and bond, not only on the field but in the stands too. Even as the game challenged them, these boys never stopped showing up for one another—firing each other up, inning after inning, with a quiet confidence that their moment was coming.
The parents brought that same energy. Whether the sun’s beating down or the skies turn gray, you show up. And it’s clear—these weekends, this commitment—it’s not just about baseball. It’s about being part of something that shapes your boys’ lives. And you’re right there shaping it with them.
